Objections to Christianity

The Bible is Not Reliable

Is the Bible reliable? Can we trust the Bible as God's Word? In this sermon Rick Leineweber answers the question of the reliability of God's Word as part of the Objections to Christian Truth Sermon Series. This sermon was preached at Open Door Bible Church in Catonsville, Maryland on March 22nd, 1992.

The Church is Full of Hypocrites

Why is the church so full of hypocrites? People who say one thing and do another. Doesn't the reality of hypocritical Christians invalidate the truth of Christianity? In Part 2 of this series on Objections to Christian Truth, Pastor Rick Leineweber addresses this criticism by showing from Scripture that hypocrites will always be in the church but that doesn't invalidate the truth of who Jesus is. Christians should live with integrity but the gospel teaches us that none of us our perfect, it is only through Christ and His righteousness that anyone can be saved. This sermon was preached at Open Door Bible Church in Baltimore, Maryland on March 29th, 1992.

A Loving God Would Never Send Anyone To Hell

How could a loving God send anyone to hell? In this sermon Pastor Rick Leineweber addresses the objections to divine judgment by showing from Scripture that judgment for sin is what is morally required from a holy God, and even our hearts cry out for justice in the face of evil. We all have a hope of forgiveness, though, in receiving Jesus who willingly took the wrath of God on His shoulders for our sin. The cross is the perfect picture of both God's justice and His love. This sermon was preached at Open Door Bible Church in Baltimore, Maryland on April 12th, 1992.

No One Can Be Sure He is Going to Heaven

Can anyone really know where they will spend eternity? In this sermon Pastor Rick Leineweber demonstrates that through the revelation of God we can be given a firm assurance of where we will spend eternity after death. We have a Savior who died and rose again and came back to tell us what is coming! Are you ready? This sermon was preached at Open Door Bible Church in Baltimore, Maryland on April 26th, 1992.

Christianity is Just a Crutch for Weak People

Isn't Christianity and faith just a crutch for weak people? Isn't religion just a mirage to help those who can't stand on their own two feet? In this episode Pastor Rick Leineweber addresses this objection to Christian faith by demonstrating that all of us are actually weak and in need of redemption and healing. Even the "strongest" of us need help to stand before a holy and just God. This sermon was preached at Limerick Chapel in Limerick, Pennsylvania on March 21st, 1993.

A Loving God Would Stop Pain and Suffering

How could a loving, all-powerful God allow all the pain and suffering in the world? Doesn't the reality of suffering disprove the existence of God? In this sermon Pastor Rick Leineweber shows how not only does a Biblical worldview give us a framework to understand the reality of suffering, it also gives us a Savior, in Jesus, who enters into our suffering.

This sermon was preached at Limerick Chapel in Limerick, Pennsylvania on March 28th, 1993.

Nothing is Really Free

Can anything really be free? There is no way God would just forgive us with no strings attached, is there? In this sermon Pastor Rick Leineweber shows that God's Word teaches that salvation is a free gift offered through faith in Jesus Christ. This is a gift that cannot be earned or deserved but only received by faith.

This sermon was initially preached in April of 1994 at Limerick Chapel in Limerick, Pennsylvania.
